School is back in full swing and all of us are settling into new practicum placements and classrooms. I hope that is going well for you!
Something to keep in mind: the Kent School Student Association is working very hard to be accessible to you in our efforts to voice the opinions and concerns of students like you. Your voice not only carries through the halls and classrooms at Kent School, but at the University as a whole. Members of KSSA represent you on various faculty committees, student government meetings and agencies in our communities. We need you to tell us how to do that best and to serve your fellow students.
Opportunities are available to students to serve on one of several faculty committees. These include: Outcomes, Curriculum, Search and Hire, Diversity, and Admissions. If you are interested, please e-mail KSSA (kssa02@louisville.edu) and briefly tell us what you think you could bring to the table in helping us provide voice for Kent Students, as well as the committee you are interested in.
KSSA represents social work students at community and university sponsored events - like Take Back the Night and the annual campus Depression Screenings. Here, KSSA members have the wonderful opportunity to participate in social action. These events will be posted on our website as they come up.
New this year, KSSA will be launching a Facebook page for networking and social justice blogging. Our activities will be outlined and it is our hope that greater discussion on community and Kent School issues will fourish here.
So, if you are interested in doing more for students like yourself and the rest of the community, please reply to this e-mail and tell us you would like to be added to our volunteer database. And when you do, please tell us how you are most interested in getting involved. We will then send e-mails to you tailored to your interest. If you choose, you do not have to specify but you will still receive our general e-mails that go out to all students. Feel free to check out our web page for new opporunities too!
